なら墨づくり
「墨」という名は「染み」からなまり伝えられたものといわれています。我が国へは推古天皇の18年(西暦610年)高句麗の僧曇徴が製墨法を伝えたといわれています。墨はその後朝廷や寺院においてつくられるようになり、時代を経て室町末期に市井の造墨家として古梅園が創業致しました。製墨法が最も発展した江戸時代、古梅園は幕府の許可を得ながら、中国の造墨家との交流、研究を重ねより一層品質の良い墨をつくるようになり、その技は今も引き継がれています。440余年の間に培った伝統の技を守りながら、これからも墨業一筋に努めていきたいと考えております。
創業1577年 古梅園
It is said that "Sumi", Japanese sumi, is a corrupted form of "Shimi", means stain. The way of making sumi is said to be brought over to Japan by a monk from Koguryo in 610, the era of the Emperor Suiko. The beginning of Nara sumi was in 1400, made at Kofukuji Temple. In 1577, the era of Muromachi,Kobaien was established and start to make sumi by authority of government. In edo era, Artisans in Kobaien interacted with people from China and they were taught how to make better sumi. That made their skills to improve. Their skill has been handed down through many generations. We will continue to practice diligence keeping the traditional skills which we have acquired over 440 years. Kobaien Established in 1577.
